Job Description

As an Accountant, you’ll play a critical role in driving financial accuracy and integrity across our projects while also mentoring junior staff and contributing to the financial success of the business. Key Responsibilities: Perform general accounting and administrative duties to ensure compliance with contractual and operational requirements on large-scale projects Accurately complete and review financial transactions in a timely manner Support project teams with ad hoc financial reporting and analysis Prepare internal and external financial reports and ensure audit readiness Handle bank deposits, monthly account reconciliations, and cash receipt entries Identify financial irregularities or risks and help implement mitigation strategies Communicate compliance and financial risks to project teams and management Prepare client billing packages per contract terms and follow up to ensure timely payment Review contracts and trade partner documentation for accounting implications Assist with initial project setup from an accounting perspective Supervise, mentor, and coach entry-level accounting staff Qualifications: Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or a related field Actively pursuing or holding a professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) is an asset 3–5 years of accounting experience, ideally in construction or a related industry Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting, forecasting, and project budgeting Working knowledge of GAAP and relevant government regulations Familiarity with project costing, insurance, recoveries, and contract/subcontract accounting Knowledge of owner contract terms related to billing, cost-of-work, and audit rights Effective leadership skills with experience delegating and guiding team members Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with accounting software systems
