Overview  

We’re looking for a Data Analyst with exceptional data migration, cleanup, and reporting skills, as well as a keen business acumen.  The successful candidate will work with a combination of financial and operational data. This role will be responsible for developing and optimizing investment performance analytics frameworks, including cash flow tracking, and portfolio valuation systems, tailored to private equity investments. This role will work to validate, organize, and analyze data to generate insights. This role is required to be on site 5 days per week in New York City. Candidates must be fully authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship. Please note that we do not work C2C.

 

Duties & Responsibilities  

  • Build and maintain data pipelines that consolidate financial data from portfolio companies, third-party administrators, and internal systems, ensuring real-time and accurate reporting.
  • Lead the integration of deal-specific data (acquisition terms, leverage ratios, exit strategies) into firm-wide financial models and dashboards for senior leadership.
  • Design and implement advanced SQL queries, Python scripts, and VBA macros to automate complex reconciliation and variance analyses across funds and reporting cycles.
  • Spearhead the transition from legacy reporting tools to modern BI platforms, creating customized dashboards that track fund performance, liquidity, and compliance metrics.
  • Collaborate closely with the deal teams to interpret financial data in the context of investment strategies, fund structures, and limited partner reporting requirements.
  • Enforce strict data governance protocols to safeguard sensitive investment and portfolio company financial data, ensuring regulatory and confidentiality compliance.
  • Provide mentorship to analysts and serve as a go-to expert on private equity financial data management, analytics best practices, and tools.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in data analytics, data modeling and reporting 
  • Experience in the financial industry is desired
  • Proficient in using Advanced Excel (including Power Pivot and VBA)
  • Proficient with Smartsheet and Tableau is desired
  • Proficiency in SQL; familiarity with SQL database structures, access, and modification
  • Excellent query and scripting skills
  • Familiarity working with multiple data sources including financial and operational data 
  • Ability to work with data visualization tools and techniques and to translate information into compelling data views is required

 

 

Education/Certifications  

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related degree is required
