The Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Officer is responsible for leading and managing the Department of Consumer Affairs' (DCA) EEO Office and its associated programs. This role provides strategic direction, ensures compliance with federal and state EEO mandates.
The EEO Officer leads the planning, administration, and enforcement of EEO-related policies, oversees and conducts complex and sensitive investigations, and ensures alignment with legal and regulatory requirements. The position also supervises office staff and is responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the department’s EEO programs.
A key component of the role includes providing expert consultation and guidance across the department’s 36 reporting entities—comprising 26 boards, 7 bureaus, 1 committee, 1 commission, and 1 program—all of which carry out licensing and enforcement functions to protect California consumers.
Additionally, the EEO Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) Discrimination Complaint Tracking and Monitoring Database. This includes overseeing complaint tracking, conducting detailed monitoring and analysis of discrimination complaint trends, and providing accurate and timely reporting to stakeholders.

The incumbent is expected to work an average of 40 hours per week each year and may be required to work specified hours based on the business needs of the office. No specific physical requirements are present: the incumbent works in an office setting, with artificial light and temperature control. Sitting and standing requirements are consistent with office work.
The EEO Officer will work from the Department's headquarters location in Natomas but can partially telework. Free parking and many local restaurants are close by.
