Job Description

We seek a qualified and experienced Medical Records Department Supervisor to join our team. As a Medical Records Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, confidentiality, and availability of patient medical records, in compliance with HIPAA and regulatory agencies. You will oversee a team of medical records staff and work closely with healthcare providers, administrative staff, and regulatory parties to maintain the highest standards of health information management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the medical records department staff.
  • Monitor the work flow, productivity and turnaround time of department.
  • Respond to patient inquiries and concerns regarding their request for medical records.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations and provide training and support to enhance staff competencies.
  • Acts as a resource throughout the organization on Health Information Management and as a liaison between the medical records department and internal/external stakeholders
  • Oversee and assist with the timely and efficient processing of requests for reports and records, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluates and prepares bi-weekly, and monthly reports indicating production levels and utilization of time and progress toward meeting established goals.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure complete and accurate documentation of patient encounters.
  • Develop and maintain department policies around record release, retention, completion and reporting.


Required Experience:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in the Medical Records field or related area. 
  • Demonstrates initiative and self-direction, anticipates problems, and takes appropriate action. 
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills and exceptional customer service. 
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). 
  • Candidate would be required to be flexible with hours as needed.


Preferred Experience: 

  • An associate's or bachelor’s degree and supervisory/management experience. 
  • Knowledge of records management and compliance requirements. 
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification is a plus.


Hours:

  • Full-time, Monday – Friday (9-5)


Compensation:

  • Annual Salary (including location pay) is $64,400 and there is also a generous benefit package.
